Take a Bow

Happy Memorial Day!
I hope you and your family are having a delightful day together. I actually hate that the holiday has moved away from honoring those who have lost their lives serving our country, and turned into a guilt trip to visit the cemetery for anyone who died.
Not that dead people don’t deserve memories.
Or ugly mums.
Well, before I offend every single reader…let me just explain that after losing 2 siblings and a father at a very young age, I don’t like cemeteries. AT ALL. Some people find comfort in them, and I don’t begrudge them that one single bit. I just don’t find any comfort there. So I choose to spend the holiday barbecuing meat and
eating various salads with my living relatives.
I hope that will suffice as a Memorial.

But it’s still Monday…right? I have a real quick one for you today!

I have a little girl. She is 3. One of the best things about a girl is accessories. But as every girl knows….accessories are small, messy, and need to be stored. I’ve seen lots and lots of ways to store big hair bows and ribbons, and I have to admit something.

(what’s up with me outing all my weird, physco, tendencies today?)

I have a thing with clutter. I think that things, like bows, that are different colors…look cluttery. I also admit to not loving book spines, cd’s, etc. Thus the reason that I use matching baskets a lot. They are uniform.

I also like categories. Sorting. And compartments. It’s a sickness, really. But this box was just the answer for me. Maybe it’s not, for you. But what if it is? Oh joy!

Here’s the box I store all our hair accessories in. I love it because it’s super portable, and I often take her in front of a TV to do her hair. It helps avoid freak-outs. I just pick up the box, and go. And I have EVERYTHING I’ll need, right at my fingertips.

The top layer is deep and empty. Perfect for bows and flowers.

Layer 2 is my very favorite. Look at that!! I just adore sorted elastics. Divine!

Layer 3 holds a comb and her “bonkers”. (doesn’t everyone have a different name for those things? We call them bonkers.)It all snaps together in a compact little box.

I grew up with VERY short (I’m talkin’ mistaken for a boy, short!!) hair. I despised little girls with bows and ribbons and “bonkers.” And that may be why I’m so set on my daughter having one of every color.

If you are looking for something similar….I got this one at Target. They carry different colors at different times of year. The Back to School/College collections usually have the best colors.

So take a bow. Or a bow. And have a great holiday!!

That is such a great idea. I am so sick of all the bows being mixed with the clip and the "bobbles" (that's what we call 'em!) Thanks!!
