You Don’t Bring Me Flowers

“You don’t bring me flowers….you don’t sing me love songs…”

Okay, this post has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with love songs. But c’mon! Can anyone fault me for needing to talk about “bouquets” and wanting to quote a song by Neil Diamond AND Babs? It’s like the best combo of my life. Almost as good as the combo of Cheese fries and dipping sauce. This has gone WAAAYY off track…

This week is teacher appreciation week at my son’s school. And at first I thought, “it’s probably too late to share ideas for gifts.” But then I realized that if I haven’t done it yet, then there are probably others like me. Others who could use a good, cheap, fast, last minute gift.

Well if I was a man, and a husband, a last minute gift would spark a trip to a grocery store for a flower bouquet. But I don’t want to go to the grocery store. Still, it’s a start.

A teacher, a bouquet, hmmmmmm…..

How about a pencil bouquet? Okay, not nearly as romantic as flowers. But we’re not going for romance anyway.

It’s pretty self explanatory. My only tip is to wrap the bouquet tightly with an elastic first. Don’t count on the ribbon to hold it tightly enough. Then wrap it with a couple spare pieces of ribbon. And put together a quick tag for the front.

Tah Dah!

You don’t bring flowers…but you do bring school supplies. And who doesn’t love a newly sharpened pencil? I bet even Neil and Babs would appreciate a few quality writing instruments. After all, they’re only human!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, Teachers!

Very cute! It's amazing how a little creativity takes a gift from ordinary to memorable. Great job!
And yes, I actually gave one of my kid's teachers a box of markers…just in the box they came in. Now I know better and next time I will do you proud. :)

I mentioned to my sweet sister about "following" your blog and she told me all about how she did this for Dax's teacher. Her and Dax's dad didn't know what to do for teacher appreciation week and she saw it and ran to the store for a box of pencils and threw it together.

just found your blog via a google image search "I'd bring you a bouquet of sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address." Know that movie? That's what your post reminded me of. Cute gift! Kelly
