Diet Coke and Me: A Love Affair

I’m not sure when we met. But for as long as I can remember I have loved Diet Coke. I remember begging for it when I was too young to have it. And I’m not sure when my Mom finally gave in….but I can probably guarantee I was sneaky about it before it was officially “okay”. (Hmmm…..that’s kinda how I was with dating my husband too. Apparently all my great loves have to be a result of being sneaky!)

Anyway, we fell in love, Diet Coke and I. (oh….and the husband thing too) And we’ve been inseparable ever since. Except while I was preggers.  I gave it up for 9 long months (twice).  But as soon as I had that baby outside my person, I was beggin’ for that yummy Diet Coke.

I always order it.  I usually have it on hand.  I pretty much love it.  We’re in love with each other.

Imagine my utter shock and excitement when, a couple weeks ago, the Diet Coke Company contacted me and said it was their 29th birthday on July 29th.  Well, my goodness!

  • First of all…I’m TOTALLY 29 too….perpetually.
  • Secondly, I didn’t get you anything.  Will my undying devotion count?

Diet Coke said my love was enough. (why don’t my kids say that on their birthday’s?)
And, in fact, Diet Coke wanted to send ME a present?
Well.
That’s FOR SURE awesome.
I figured they may send me a coupon for a 2 liter bottle of Diet Coke.
Or even better, a 12 pack.
Or even better, a 24 pack!!  (Wouldn’t that be marvie?)

Here’s what I found at my house when I got back from my trip to Mexico…….

ARE YOU FREAKIN’ KIDDING ME?

It’s a custom made Diet Coke Birthday mini-fridge!!!!  (and how utterly amazing is that offset logo all over it? Genius I tell you. GENIUS!)

As if that wasn’t enough to make me squeal like a piglet in a mud bath……it was totally stocked with the good stuff!!!

So, I’m pretty much in bubbly heaven.
You know, the kind that burns a little when it goes down?

If I can train this fridge to freeze just a little of the Diet Cokes when I put them in the back corner……can you imagine?  I will for sure submit it for sainthood.  WHEW!

Thank you, thank you, Diet Coke!

Thank you for being my buddy.  Thank you for burning my throat just a tiny bit.  Thanks for soothing my stress, and making my headaches go away.  Thanks for being my date on WAY too many embarrassing college nights.  Thank you for bonding me with my girlfriends.  Thank you for congratulating me on my triumphs and hugging me with bubbles when I’m sad.

And thank you for this fridge.  Which I will place in my craft creative room….where she and I will make wonderful and inspired projects.
Inspired by bubbles.
And yumminess.

*The Diet Coke Company really did give me this fridge.  Which was amazing.  But they in no way asked me to write about it or promote it.  I did this purely to say thank you, and to express my undying love.  Which is TOTALLY genuine!*

I saw them giving these away on their twitter for their birthday and I was trying so hard to win. I have a bad obsession with Diet Coke as well and when I say bad I mean good! We bought a Costco membership just so we could buy larger packs of Diet Coke! It takes away my headaches and stress as well. There ain’t nothing like a DC.

LOVE the fridge! Maybe you have broken the Oyler curse of never winning anything. There could be three people in a drawing and no Oyler/Garner would ever win. BUT maybe, just maybe you have broken the curse. I will let you know on the next contest, drawing, or raffel. The pictures are adorable.

Oh man! If I had known it was that cute and well- stocked, I would have taken it straight to my home instead of into your garage. And then I would have left a 2-liter on your doorstep as a replacement gift. And “Hello” Miss Model! I think DC needs these in one of their adds.

That is a cute fridge. Too bad they don’t sell it to the masses. I would buy it for my boss. He is ADDICTED to Diet Coke unlike anyone else I’ve ever met. Which is strange, because I don’t know many men who openly admit to liking Diet Coke. But he does, and in our office the only 2 beverage choices are water or Diet Coke.

I’m on my 3rd DC already today. Most days I don’t keep track of how many I drink, I don’t want to know. Sometimes I go through stages where I cut down to 3 a day, but it is tough. So glad I’m not the only one obsessed with DC! Nothing like a DC at 6 am!

At last I have found someone who loves DC as much as me. It was one of my son’s first words because I was always saying “Mommy needs a Diet Coke”, “Diet Coke Break!!”, or “Ooooh, let’s go get the biggest, baddest Diet Coke for Mommy”. He is so cute and even likes to get me one out of the fridge now. I have cut back to one a day just so I can set a better example but like you, our love can not be broken ;) I am beyond jealous of your fridge but totally think you deserve it after seeing this adorable post. Thanks for brightening my day with this!
