2012-One Word: Eighteen25 {enough}

Today’s one word guest is one of my very first blog crushes.  Like BIG TIME!  I think I’ve written them embarrassing fan letters.  And they’re still nice to me!

The Girls from Eighteen25

I have loved getting to know these girls (mostly Jen, because she e-mails me) over the last year or so.  The first time she e-mailed me I almost passed out.  It was like the Eighteen25 effect.   Everything they touch turns to actual blog gold.  I’m always so inspired when I go there.

Which is why I wasn’t the least bit surprised to get their contribution for this series…and was totally blown away!  I know I say this all the time.  But I NEVER would have thought of this word.  And I love it!  Wait till you read it…you’ll love it too.

a big thank you to the hilarious lara for inviting us to be a part of her one word one goal series. it’s been so fun to read about all the other bloggers and their words for the year and why they chose them.
we thought long and hard about our one word.
(and even considered cheating and using a quote since there are three of us)
a few different choices came to mind.

but we decided on

ENOUGH.

we are always thinking of ways to make our lives better. how we can be better at this and that. a lot of times it’s easy to feel like we just aren’t good enough.

-not smart enough
-not skinny enough
-not pretty enough
-our house isn’t fancy enough
- our meals aren’t healthy enough
-not creative enough
although we are not perfect, we are ENOUGH.
we want to focus on the good things about ourselves as much as the areas that may need a little attention. keep working to become better people everyday, but celebrate who we are today because we’ve put a lot of work into that person.
so simply…
we just always want to remember each one of us and all of you are good ENOUGH!
[and more than enough in most things]

See?  Isn’t that amazing!  It does remind me of that old SNL skit with Stewart Smalley.  “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dogonne it….PEOPLE LIKE ME!”  And as much as that makes me laugh….mostly because that dude now is on Capitol Hill. :)   It really is an awesome way to start your day!

Head over to Eighteen25 and join the fan club.  Whoever gets their autograph first….wins!

(ps…I’ve had a lot of people share their One Word posts with me via comments or e-mail. I wish I could feature them all! But, I promise at the end of the event we’re gonna have a place for EVERYONE to share! Deal?)

This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I especially like “keep working to become better people everyday, but celebrate who we are today because we’ve put a lot of work into that person.”

ENOUGH is an aweeeeesome word. I’m always using it in the negative way- I’m not enough of xyz…but now I’m going to use it in a positive way- I am good enough! :)
I love eighteen25 – so fun to read about how they came up with it!

I think I use it in a negative way too, Mique! For sure. Now I’m gonna change that. ;)

I love them too. And I love this word. And I love you, Kami! Maybe my word should have been “Love”

Me too. I think that’s why this one hit me so hard. I gotta be better at giving myself some credit.
