2012-One Word: UCreate {pause}

Today’s “One Word, One Goal-2012″ series guest is the uber fantastic Kari from UCreate.

I owe a great deal of my success in this blogging world to the generous Miss Kari. She shares her amazing blog with the rest of us gals, and points out so many new ideas and fantastic tutorials every day. I hope she realizes how much the blogging community loves and respects her!

She sometimes forgets to praise herself for her OWN amazing creative skills.

Look at this quilt.  For real?  I could die.  It’s the cutest thing ever.  And I know Kari wouldn’t ever make a big deal of it….so I will….

She totally auctioned this amazing little snugglie off for charity.  Yep.  She’s amazing.

I am BEYOND honored to have this amazing woman as a guest today.

I’m so used to posting crafty/home décor ideas and sharing others creative projects that I rarely get the chance to share about my personal life. It’s nice to get this chance to open up a little (and I have to admit a little intimidating, too!) and share my goals and what’s in my heart. Thanks for having me over today as part of your series Lara! I’m honored.

My word for 2011 was “believe”. I wanted to believe in myself, believe in my family (and what we could achieve), and strengthen what I believe in – my faith. As I try to be better in these areas of my life, I’m excited to focus on a new word for 2012.

This year when Lara asked me to share my “one” word. I instantly knew what it needed to be.

It has to do with this little guy…

pause button
…and believe me I need to push it more often!

My word for 2012 is…
2012 One Word

Definition: v. To cease or suspend an action temporarily. Break. Intermission. Rest.

My mind is constantly racing more than it ever has before and I need to slow down. Being a busy mother of 4, a wife, and an entrepreneur, I realize I’ve pretty much chosen to have a hectic life. I love my life, but I know I will be happier if I push pause more often.

I like the word “pause” because it doesn’t mean I need to “stop” or give up the important things that fill my schedule. It simply means I need to take a temporary break from them.

Is that so hard?

Yes! Sometimes it is. Here’s some examples…

  • 1. It’s hard for me to pause when I’m upset. You know how most of us have those “I should have bit my tongue” or “did I just say that” moments? I could avoid those embarrassing or hurtful situations if I’d just think first!
  • 2. It’s hard for me to pause when I am in the middle of a project or task. When the kids ask me to come watch a movie or play a game sometimes I find myself saying “as soon as I finish this” or “I’m almost done” too much.
  • 3. I need to pause and think about others more often. As I’m typing this, I seriously have a song that keeps popping into my head. I’m humming it right now. There’s a line that says “pause to help and lift another” and I think this is what I’d like to focus on most this year. It’s easy for me to think about my priorities, my schedule, my projects, my problems, etc.  I really need to pause and help out friends, family, and others more often. This makes everybody feel better!

I’m also a firm believer that while making goals, you should never be too hard on yourself or beat yourself up with insecurities…just tryin’ to be a little better.

I want to PAUSE and enjoy now so that later on down the road I’m not wishing that I could hit “rewind”.

Wishing you all a fabulous 2012 and thanks again to Lara for inviting me to be a guest on her amazing blog!

Oh Kari!  See what I mean?  “Pause” is an AMAZING word!  I hardly ever hit pause.  Well that’s not true, when I hit it…..I hit it with a dose of Ambien.  So that’s not really pause, is it?  It’s more like: stop, drop, and coma.

Make SURE you put UCreate on your everyday blog checks.  You’ll be able to find TONS of new inspiration.  And lots of talent.  But mostly…don’t forget who’s behind it all.  Miss Kari is one of my favorite people of all time!

VERY well said! This is exactly what I have been talking about on my own blog the past few weeks. I think as moms we all get so caught up in what “needs” to be done, that we forget about what truly needs to be done. Like taking a moment with our kids and families. Off to check her out. :)

I like pause, too. Very thoughtful, I too need to pause when upset because I have so much I WANT to say! #2 also applies to me…I try to do my “stuff” while the kids are at school, but sometimes it trickles over into the time I have allotted as “their” time.
