The Address to Gettysburg Part 2

Last year about this time I was BASKING in what I felt was my most EPIC LCMF project to date. The Vinyl re-creation of the Gettysburg Address

Little did I know that an entire year later it would STILL be the most epic project to date.

(either that means that it was TRULY so epic that it will never BE topped….or that I’ve spent the last 12 months doing less than 100% quality work.)

Still probably one of the MOST asked about projects. And one of the MOST requested to reproduce.
(and PS…..people have begged and nearly offered me their first born for a copy of this project. So PLEASE keep your first borns. No need for that kind of desperation!)

I think I was pretty honest in saying that I don’t know of any person in their right mind who’d like to re-create it in vinyl. It literally took me days. And may be the culprit of why my bum hurts to this day. (okay…that last part isn’t true…)

But since it is so MUCH requested I decided to make it into a printable version for this year’s holiday.

I know it comes a bit late, I’m guessing most of you are all decorated for the season. But know that my heart was in the right place. I’ve had kind of a rough month.

Click on the arrow with a line under it…in the above window. Just press it, and the image file should download right to your computer! Easy Peezy!

You can then print the file anywhere you’d like. This file is sized at 16×20. It will not print optimally at a bigger size. (But you can print it at a smaller size if you’d like.)

As usual PLEASE follow the following rules for Less Cake {more frosting} printables:

  • LCMF prinatables are for PERSONAL USE only. You may not re-sell, re-distribute, or claim them as your own.
  • Please do not remove the watermark.
  • If posting on the internet, you MUST post a link back to this website.
  • Personalization, color changes, and other customizations are not available on freebie printables. They are offered “as-is”.

If you are interested in purchasing the print in different color schemes or without the LCMF watermark please visit Announced Designs where 4 color schemes are available for immediate download for a small charge.

I am still ABSOLUTELY in love with the message and the man. And still get misty every single time I read the speech in it’s entirety.

Even if I won’t be celebrating as much as I normally do. I will still have on my Playlist of awesome songs and I usually can see some fireworks from my back deck. So I’ll probably take a trip out there and see what I can see.

In the interest of feeling positive about the fact that I won’t be able to sit through a traditional fun fireworks show….I’ve tried to think of my Pollyanna thought. I have begun to play “The Glad Game” with my current health situation. Here’s what I have:

This year when Mr. Greenwood sings about “God Bless the USA”….
and he says “stand up, next to you”….
I’ll already be standing.
‘Cause I can’t sit.
There you go.

Happy Independence Day friends. Be safe with your celebrations!

Oh Say Can You See? (an iPod playlist)

Happy 4th of July….LCMF readers!

The winner of the Thistles giveaway is at the bottom of the post.

I hope most of you are out celebrating today!  But I wanted to jump in and wish everyone a happy Independence Day!

How will my little family be celebrating the 4th?  We will be celebrating by a pool with some extended family and LOTS of yummy food.  And then we’ll head back home for some fireworks in our backyard.

Even though we won’t be attending a huge fireworks show, we’ll be happy at home because when we light our fireworks….we do it to an Independence Day soundtrack.

I mentioned when I unveiled my 4th of July printable poster that I LOVE all the patriotic music I keep on my iPod.

Let’s be clear.
I love music. All kinds of music.
I own an iPod that has over 50G of music ALONE. Not kidding.
So putting together all kinds of playlists for different occasions, is one of the best ways for me to keep all that music organized.
(and if you’re thinking…..”I don’t know how to do that” hop over to my iPod Playlist making tutorial and learn how)

After my printable post, I got a LOT of e-mails and comments and requests for the songs on my iPod Independence Day list.  Sure!  I will totally share.

To start…..

My patriotic list contains almost EVERY song from The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s album entitled, “Spirit of America”.  There’s just nothing like a gigantic choir singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” to a fireworks display.  It makes me teary EVERY time.

Also on this album:  “Shenandoah” an absolutely gorgeous traditional American folk song.   “This Land is Your Land” an awesome one for any America celebration.  All the great traditional American songs are there, along with one that makes my heart go pitty-pat “America, The Dream Goes On”.  It seriously gives me chills.

And probably my favorite “Call of the Champions” which is an AH-MAZ-ING John Williams number that was the theme song for the Winter Olympics in 2002.  The choir sings the Olympic Motto in Latin with the symphony….and…..well….it’s beyond fantastic with a firework or two.

But the list doesn’t stop there…no way!  It’s got lots more.  The list is comprised of songs about America.  So anything mentioning a part of America or depicting traditional American life is fair game. “Rocky Mountain High”?  You betcha.  “Sweet Home Alabama?”  All the way.  Will Smith singing “Miami”?  Totally!

Then there’s a few that just seem to fit….like for some reason “Eye of the Tiger” is awesome with fireworks.  And it makes me feel weirdly patriotic.  “Break on Through to the Other Side” is used in the Forrest Gump movie with scenes from the war, and those pictures run through my mind when it plays.

I can’t believe it’s July already!  I spent 8 hours outside yesterday (thank you random day under 80 degrees) getting our yard all pretty.  Well, at least as pretty as it’s gonna get.  I HATE yardwork.  Like HATE. (did I mention HATE?)  I’m just not an outdoor, get your fingers all icky gal.  Inside, and Mod Podge on your hands?  You betcha!  No dirt!

Well, before you embark on all your holiday weekend parties….a few quick things from me here at LCMF.

#1–since it’s the 1st, you’re looking for a calendar, aren’t you?  Never fear!  I’ve got you covered.

You can then print the file anywhere you’d like. This file is sized at 8.5×11. It will not print optimally at a bigger size. (But you can print it at a smaller size if you’d like.)

But that’s not all! I also thought I’d re-share some printables I made last summer for the 4th! They are really fun cupcake toppers, but I actually used them for something else. You can go HERE to see the entire post.  But since not a lot of you were around last summer….the blog was kind of a newbie then…..I thought I’d re-share them.

Same instructions as above: Click on the image to be taken to the BOX website. There is a button in the top right corner that says “DOWNLOAD”. Just press it, and the image file should download right to your computer.

You can then send the file anywhere you’d like to be printed. Your home printer, an online printer, the grocery store. Wherever!

This file is sized at 8.5×11. It will not print optimally at a bigger size. (But you can print it at a smaller size if you’d like.)

I hope you all have an absolutely FANTASTIC holiday weekend.  And a big THANK YOU for all your kind words about the Gettysburg Address art.  That has really made me smile!  Now, go make something yummy, have a BBQ and watch some fireworks.  (and if you get out the Neil or Lee Greenwood….all the better!)

And if you’re needin’ even more Ellie G.  (and who isn’t….really?)

You can head over to “I Am Momma, Hear Me Roar” today.  I am over at Cheri’s place helping her wrap up “HAIR WEEK”.  I’m talkin’ about my short hair-cut and how rockin’ the short do is SUPER COOL!  Come see me!
