I’ve been so excited to bring some spring into my home. We had some really big plans to do a big renovation on our upstairs living room this spring. And because of silly health reasons we know it won’t be happening until AT LEAST late summer. So stinker. Oh well.

In lieu of beautiful new wood floors and yummy gray cabinets….I decided to get out the most bright and cheery spring decor I could find.

But I felt like I was missing something. More Easter. More Bunnies. More things that remind me of candy. (because….let’s face it….candy is delightful)

Tuesday is “Mommy Day” because I drop off my daughter at her preschool.  Then, I go to: McD’s for a large Diet Coke and a sausage McMuffin (no egg, no cheese),  Target, Hobby Lobby, and a round at the Thrift Store.

Look what greeted me at my Mommy Day thrift store shopping!  Dirty, tacky bunny rabbits.  Sweet!

In the past, when I was dumb and snobby, I wouldn’t have even looked twice at them.  But now that all my “thrifting” friends have taught me the error of my ways…..I could see their amazing potential.

  • (promise me you’ll look past my exterior of: no make-up, no bra, zit face, and a cookie monster tee shirt?  Something amazing is hiding in there!  Probably.)

I took my bunnies home and cleaned off their goop.

Then I shot them with a spray of white primer.  And for REALSIES they could remain white.  They are beautiful plain white.  And one day, when I’m super classy, they might return to white.  That’s not today though.

Today I need LOTS of cheer in my Spring home.  So my buddies got a shot of glossy yellow and hot pink.  (and that little green guy came like that!  Yep.  $0.75 of hopping lime goodness!  He’s awesome!)

Make sure, when you decide to venture into the thrift store isles….that you see the potential of what’s there.  And not just what it looks like now.

Get a mind-set that you’re gonna do an amazing make-over show….and need someone who will come out looking like a million bucks when you give them new glasses and a hair-do from this century.

Lots of things have potential.  Actually…lots of people have potential too.

Let’s pretend this is a super deep entry about seeing the potential in others.  And not about my super cute hot pink rabbit.  (even though he is amazing)

What’s up Doc? “Happy Spring”

Happy Monday!
Today is another Dr. day for me. Which can become kinda difficult sometimes. Especially when the appointments are an hour or more, and the doctor’s office is about 40 minutes away. So when I have to go twice a week…..well…..I might be over it. Just a titch.

Gratefully, at least the Doctor is SUPER awesome. And funny. And manages to make me laugh, even when I’m in a ton of pain.

On our very first appointment, I happened to overhear him say that he loves white chocolate. And I had an “Ah-Ha” moment. If I’m gonna trust this man to fix me….and give me LOTS of TLC….I ought to feed him. Right?

Well then I saw someone post that M&M’s has a white chocolate variety for easter. SCORE!

So here’s my little tips for making a super cute and easy treat for someone who really needs it. (or someone who you are trying to suck-up to. What? That’s necessary sometimes.)

The fastest way to take a bag of candy from “here’s a bag of candy,” to…..freak this is cute!  Is to separate the colors.  Yep.  It just makes the whole thing pop.  And makes it look like your giving a gift rather than the excess of your grocery run.

I also ALWAYS have cellophane baggies on hand.  You will love being able to throw together something last-minute and not having to go to the store.

This is a GINORMOUS glue dot.  And I LOVE IT!  I got these from Therm-O-Web (makers of Zots…which are my favie!) when I was at the CHA conference in January.  And I seriously can not love them more.  What would you do with them?

Well I got some yummy gray twine and swirled and swirled and swirled and swirled.  (yep I swirled for a while)  Just make sure your going slow and making things look even.  The dot really is gonna hold that twine tight so there’s not a lot of room for error.

I’ve now made twine flowers by starting in the middle of the dot and by starting on the outer edge.  And the outer edge is much preferred.  (thanks for figuring that out Ellie G!  No problem peeps.)

I LLLLLLLOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEE how that twine dot looks holding this baggie together.  So awesome.  Especially for a guy.  Not frilly.  Just cool.

And hopefully it buys me some extra Doctor TLC.  Because I sure could use it.

Bring in Spring with a Printable Poster!

I’m itchin’ for spring. It’s true. Around here we haven’t had much of a winter. But still….winter is my LEAST favorite season. I’m never sad to see it leave anytime after January first.

I am SO EXCITED about the 2012 LCMF Spring Printable poster.  I always like the printables, but this one is one of my FAVORITES for sure.

It has a wonderful cherry blossom branch, which I think screams IT’S SPRING.  Plus it’s pink.  Which my 4 year old daughter has told me is the ONLY acceptable color for anything awesome.

It features an awesomely descriptive quote from the Charles Dickens novel, “Great Expectations” :

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:

when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.

Doesn’t that just describe a March/April day to a tee?  That feeling of getting into a car that’s been in the sun.  Or grabbing a window seat at a restaurant.  It’s the best!

Click on the arrow with a line under it…in the above window. Just press it, and the image file should download right to your computer! Easy Peezy!

You can then print the file anywhere you’d like. This file is sized at 16×20. It will not print optimally at a bigger size. (But you can print it at a smaller size if you’d like.)

As usual PLEASE follow the following rules for Less Cake {more frosting} printables:

  • LCMF prinatables are for PERSONAL USE only. You may not re-sell, re-distribute, or claim them as your own.
  • Please do not remove the watermark.
  • If posting on the internet, you MUST post a link back to this website.
  • Personalization, color changes, and other customizations are not available on freebie printables. They are offered “as-is”.

I’m hoping to finish up all my Spring decor this weekend.  Including the transformation of some kind of unfortunate ceramics…into something amaze-balls!  Can’t wait to share.

Know what I won’t be sharing?  Easter candy.

Because I totally ate an embarrassing amount of it yesterday.  And while I’m sure my weight won’t love it.  My tummy did.  And to be honest, so did my heart.  So….it’s all good!   I’m a proponent of letting Cadbury Mini-Eggs sing to me about happiness.  Even if I have to be wearing stretchy pants to do it.

Cheers to spring!
